President’s Message – Consider playing a leadership role
(05/15/18)
By Kim Nix, Alabama Dept. of Conservation & Natural Resources
Greetings! I want to extend a special welcome to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, who recently rejoined ACI after an absence of several years. Many thanks to Treasurer Judy Stokes Weber and Communications Chair Scott Ball for all their work recruiting memberships. We are at the highest number of state agency memberships that ACI has had in several years.
Registration is open for the annual conference in Springfield, Mo. July 29 – Aug. 2. During the conference we will be electing board members to fill current and upcoming vacancies. Each year three board members rotate off, but we have an additional vacancy this year due to the departure of Andrea Jones (Mont.) for advancement to a job in the private sector, so we wish her the best.
If you are interested in serving on the ACI Board, here are the requirements:
- Nominees must represent an agency that has been a member in good standing for a minimum of two years.
- Nominees must have attended at least two of the past four conferences and/or must have served as an official committee member for at least two years.
- Nominees understand they will be expected to attend conferences, board meetings and teleconferences, if possible. They also are advised to consult with their agency supervisors before committing to be a candidate.
A nominating committee will be announced at the conference, so you will be able to ask questions and make your interest known. Elections will take place during the business meeting on Aug. 1.
I look forward to seeing you all in Springfield!
