ACI Conference in Hawaii?
As Conference Futures Chair Kay Ellerhoff pursued possible locations for future conferences, Hawaii’s Dan Dennison offered the Aloha State as a potential host for 2019. Agreeing that it would be great to meet in Hawaii, we also knew it would pose a financial burden for many states. So before putting too much work into planning a Hawaii conference, we surveyed ACI members.
The results are in, and alas, the spirits are willing, but the budgets are weak. Of the 61 who responded, 51 percent said it was unlikely or very unlikely that they could get travel approval. And without agency support, 78 percent would be unlikely or very unlikely to pay their own way.
Stay tuned for updates on our 2019 conference site.
